Isabelle's 1st Outpatient Check-up

7th Aug 08: 10 Days Old...
We had to bring her back to SGH O&G clinic to do her Thyroid Function test again and to check her jaundice level as well. Early morning, around 8am, Alvin fed her and told her to finish up all her milk cause we were going to bring her to "gai-gai". She obediently finished up her milk and stayed awake for the entire "trip".

At the clinic while waiting for our turn, she started to whine, so we checked her diapers (which were clean) and thus concluded that she needed to be fed. That was almost 11:30am. Normally, she would scream for food, but she was very well-behaved today. (Guess she wants to "maintain" her feminine image). I "whipped" out my "bazooka" and fed her in the nursing room.

When it was her turn, the nurse took her "vital" stats 1st. She had put on 200g and grown 1cm longer! The paediatrician did an overall check of her then sent us (the parents) out of the room so that they can draw her blood.

While waiting outside, Isabelle started her screaming cries. The thought of the pain that she had to go through sent tears streaming down my face. So poor thing my little darling... The louder and more she cried, the more I cried too. It was just too painful to listen. Upon re-entering the consultation room (I had already stopped crying and cleaned up), poor Isabelle was in a state of shock. Her little hand had a big cotton wool over it. They had drawn blood from the back of her tiny tiny little hand. Alvin carried her and she was shivering, with her eyes red and wide open (in shock). I started to cry again. It was heart-wrenching seeing her like that.

The doctor told us that we could go home and wait for the results of her jaundice test. They would call and inform us of the test result. As we went out of the room, I kept kissing and sayang-ing my little darling. She had undergone enormous trauma. SOOOO POOOOR THING!
